A brand new day! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and I am happy. I decided to
watch the news, and the horror that beheld me shocked me to my bone marrow. Young girls were sentenced to be raped, little kids washing up ashore, dead, head-of- states with a God-complex. It was too appalling for me to handle, so I changed the channel, because it wasn’t my business and there was nothing I could do about it. E! entertainment is better anyways.
On my way out, I saw a group campaigning. Apparently, they run a NGO, and they want public help. One of the ladies gave me a pamphlet, with pictures of very emaciated children on it. I was more interested in the lady than the pamphlet. She certainly has nice curves. Besides, what is my business with the children, there wasn’t much I could do to help.
The lady wasn’t interested in me, I don’t know why though, maybe her taste isn’t peculiar like mine. So, I went on my way, with the thought that something or someone better would come along.
In the bus, I was looking out the window- I like doing that, when I saw people dumping their refuse in the middle of the road! Right in the middle!! The only thing that bothered me about that was the fact that their refuse was stinking up the air, ergo preventing me from taking deep breaths whenever I wanted. How disgusting! I couldn’t make them stop, so I decided to check my mail instead of looking out the window.
I arrived at my destination, but I was quite thirsty, so I decided to get a quick drink. After downing my bottle of chilled Fanta, I didn’t find any waste basket nearby, so I chucked the empty bottle in the nearest gutter I could find. Hey! It’s not my fault there was no waste basket nearby, and besides, it’s not like I could do anything about it.
So, I chucked that bottle in the gutter, after taking a long sip. I took a drink from the glass of silence and indifference while the world wasted away, and I went about my day.
NB: To change a nation, every individual in that nation must be an active agent of change. So, that means you,you and you. It’s high time we started helping the less fortunate, it’s high time we started speaking up and demanding for the right things to be done. Remember, if you don’t live for something, you will die for nothing. I have done mine by passing this message across to you, what are you going to do?
